We cordially invite all the interested representatives of Biomass Community to participate in the 11th International Conference on Biomass for Energy, which will take place in Kyiv (Ukraine) on 22-23 September 2015. Traditional conference organizers: Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, SEC "Biomass" and the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of NASU.
Increasing energy independence is one of the most urgent priorities of Ukraine, in particular in the light of some recent political events. Bioenergy sector can significantly contribute to this process since biomass can directly replace natural gas, primarily in the production of thermal energy. In 2013 such substitution already reached about 2 billion m3/year, and the goal of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan is to achieve the replacement of natural gas by biomass at the level of 7.2 billion m3 per year by 2020.
There has been a significant progress in the development of bioenergy in the country recently. From 2012 to 2013 the contribution of biomass in the total primary energy supply increased from 1.54 to 1.84 Mtoe (by 23% per year). Even a greater increase in the bioenergy sector is forecasted in the coming years.
