On July 10th, AEBIOM changes name to become Bioenergy Europe, that aims at giving a clearer, more united voice to Europe’s first source of renewable energy.
UABio has been a Full Member of Bioenergy Europe (formerly known as AEBIOM) Association for 2 years already.
Bioenergy is among Europe’s most recent industrial success stories. The figures speak for themselves: biomass is now Europe’s first source of locally produced energy, representing more than 60% of the total renewable energy consumed and employing more than 500.000 people, similar to the pharmaceutical industry. This leading role in the energy transition – underpinned by the great diversity of the sector – deserves greater recognition and understanding from all EU stakeholders.
AEBIOM, which has accompanied this transition for nearly 30 years, has to reflect the evolution of the sector. In this context, according to Bioenergy Europe’s President Didzis Palejs, “’Bioenergy Europe’ is a choice of clarity and simplicity. Recent EU debates have shown many misleading perceptions; we, as a trade federation, have the duty to better explain our daily commitment to EU citizens.”
For Jean-Marc Jossart, Bioenergy Europe’s Secretary-General, “This rebranding also reflects the internal evolutions of the association, as Bioenergy Europe experienced an outstanding growth in recent years, passing the symbolic milestone of one hundred members.”
This year, International conference "BIOMASS FOR ENERGY 2018" will be supported by Bioenergy Europe (formerly known as AEBIOM) and General Jean-Marc Jossart, Bioenergy Europe’s Secretary-General will be the co-chair of the Conference.
