Bioenergy Association of Ukraine appealed to the acting Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety Dombrovsky O.G., People's Deputies - members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety, and Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Savchuk S.D. on the reduction of the "green" tariff for biomass and biogas by 10% from 2020 and another 10% reduction from 2025 under the Draft Law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine" on ensuring the competitive conditions for the production of electric energy from alternative sources of energy "№8449-d from 05.12.2018.

It should be reminded that Bioenergy Association of Ukraine sent to the Fuel and Energy Committee the letter No. 429 from "20", June 2018, justifying the non-admission of such a reduction and the risk of a complete stop of the sector after 2020, if such a decision was made. Unfortunately, in Ukraine there is already an unnatural lag in the development of electricity generation from biomass and biogas in relation to the production of electricity from other renewable energy sources, in particular solar and wind energy, including those comparing with the trends in the EU. In our opinion, the main reason for this is the lack of a functioning "green tariff" for biomass and biogas. It is significantly lower than in most EU countries. In particular, Ukraine ranks 13th among 15 EU countries that use the "green tariff" as a means of stimulating the production of electricity from biomass and biogas.
