On May 20, 2019, the conference on the launch of the new EU-funded Twinning Project “Renewables Development in Ukraine” was held in Kyiv. The project will be implemented by an Austrian-Italian project consortium in partnership with the State Agency of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving in Ukraine (SAEE).
The conference concerns the recent changes in EU renewable energy policy, the experience of Austria and Italy in renewables as well as the achievements and plans for the “clean” energy development in Ukraine. The project’s experts will give an overview of the targets and tasks of the project.
Within the framework of the Twinning project, further implementation of the provisions of the European Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EU is foreseen, in particular regarding the development of the field of production of liquid fuels from biomass, and the introduction of sustainability criteria for liquid fuels from biomass and biogas intended for use in transport (Draft Law No. 7348 of 11/29/2017), the continuation of work towards the goals of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan until 2020 and the beginning of work on the development of a new National Renewable Energy Action Plan by 2030, contributing to the upgrade statistics.
The experts of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine are involved in consultations on the improvement of statistics for analyzing the development of the bioenergy sector in Ukraine.
