Within the SAF platform, we continue to provide information about the sunflower by-products use for energy purposes. We already know a lot about the possibilities of using seeds, now we offer you new article about the possibilities of processing by-products of sunflower cultivation (stalks, leaves, heads and chaff) into solid biofuels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is important?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sunflower cultivation is not widespread in many countries of the world, while in Ukraine this crop has significant potential for use in bioenergy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is the technology regulated?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Technologies for processing sunflower residues into solid biofuels have already been developed. Fuel briquettes from a mixture of sunflower parts are included in the register of alternative fuels of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do special equipment is needed?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Yes, it is needed. Fuel characteristics of the by-products determine the use of specialized heating equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who produces equipment on the Ukrainian market?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In Ukraine, projects for the production of energy from sunflower stalks are carried out by Kotloturboprom LLC of the MAST-IPRA Corporation. Volyn Kalvis LLC offers boilers for burning sunflower by-products. Also, heat generators and burners for grain dryers, which burn the stalks and other sunflower by-products, are offered on the market, in particular, the company “Bryg”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results of the experiment on sunflower stalks burning to obtain thermal energy on different grates are given in the tables<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
