{"id":10826,"date":"2021-07-19T16:58:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-19T13:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uabio.org\/?p=10826"},"modified":"2021-08-05T18:45:25","modified_gmt":"2021-08-05T15:45:25","slug":"yevropejskyj-green-deal-analiz-ekspertiv-uabio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uabio.org\/en\/news\/10826\/","title":{"rendered":"European Green Deal:  analysis by UABIO expert"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last week, the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/index_en\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/index_en\" target=\"_blank\">European Commission<\/a> adopted a package of proposals to align EU policies on climate, energy, land use, transport, and taxation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. Achieving such emission reductions is crucial in the next decade. Only in this way will Europe become the world&#8217;s first climate-neutral continent by 2050 and make the European Green Course a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We offer a short analysis from the <strong>Semen Dragniev,<\/strong> expert of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contents of proposals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0The Commission is proposing to <strong>revise seven interlinked pieces of legislation, <\/strong>which are <strong>central to moving towards a climate-neutral energy system<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u00a0Renewable Energy Directive;<\/li><li>\u00a0Energy Efficiency Directive;<\/li><li>\u00a0EU Emissions Trading System;<\/li><li>\u00a0Energy Taxation Directive;<\/li><li>\u00a0ReFuelEU Aviation;<\/li><li>\u00a0FuelEU Maritime;<\/li><li>\u00a0Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Directive.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-08-05-o-17.58.20.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10949\" width=\"860\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-08-05-o-17.58.20.png 2610w, https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-08-05-o-17.58.20-768x355.png 768w, https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-08-05-o-17.58.20-1536x710.png 1536w, https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-08-05-o-17.58.20-2048x946.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why decarbonization of energy sphere is on agenda?\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Energy production and use accounts for <strong>75% of EU emissions<\/strong>, so accelerating the transition to a greener energy system is crucial.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/files\/amendment-renewable-energy-directive-implement-ambition-new-2030-climate-target_en\"><strong>Renewable Energy Directive<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will set an\u00a0<strong>increased target to produce 40% of our energy from renewable sources<\/strong>\u00a0by 2030.\u00a0All Member States will contribute to this goal, and specific targets are proposed for renewable energy use in transport, heating and cooling, buildings, and industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proposal outlines the following new targets at national level aimed at stimulating change for:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>heating and cooling<\/strong>, the existing indicative\u00a0<strong>1.1<\/strong>\u00a0percentage point annual increase becomes binding on Member States, with specific indicative national top-ups;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>transport sector, the proposal introduces a target for reducing the\u00a0<strong>greenhouse gas intensity of transport fuels<\/strong>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>13%<\/strong>\u00a0by 2030;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>buildings<\/strong>, a new benchmark of\u00a0<strong>49%<\/strong>\u00a0renewables use by 2030;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>district heating and cooling<\/strong>, an indicative\u00a0<strong>2.1<\/strong>\u00a0percentage point annual increase in the use of renewables and waste heat and cold (an increase from the current 1.0 percentage point increase);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>industry<\/strong>, a new benchmark of a\u00a0<strong>1.1\u00a0<\/strong>percentage point annual increase in renewables use.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bioenergy role<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to achieve both the established climatic and ecological goals, the criteria of sustainability of bioenergy use are being strengthened.
