{"id":11898,"date":"2021-12-22T16:54:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-22T14:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uabio.org\/?p=11898"},"modified":"2022-01-11T16:12:44","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T14:12:44","slug":"biometanova-deklaratsiya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uabio.org\/en\/materials\/11898\/","title":{"rendered":"Biomethane Declaration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Biomethane is the most cost effective, scalable and sustainable renewable gas available today. \u00a0On December 7, leading European companies and organizations presented the Biomethane Declaration to Kadri Simson, <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/index_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Commissioner for Energy<\/a>, in a lively online event. Representatives of UABIO took part in the presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biomethane has a long-term role to play in the future climate-neutral energy system, to meet the \u201cFit For 55\u201d reduction of GHG emissions target (55% by 2030). Furthermore, biomethane contributes to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>sustainable agriculture,<\/li><li>rural jobs creation,<\/li><li>recovery of waste streams. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-12-09-o-12.08.20.png\" alt=\"Biomethane Declaration\" class=\"wp-image-11908\" width=\"720\" height=\"845\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-12-09-o-12.08.20.png 1206w, https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-12-09-o-12.08.20-768x902.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Biomethane therefore should be scaled up rapidly across the EU. This requires increased investments, policy support, cost reductions and optimising overall revenues for producers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Biomethane finds use across the economy and has a particularly high energy system value in:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>industry (for high-temperature heat that cannot be electrified, or for biogenic carbon feedstock);<\/li><li>transport (for long-distance heavy transport and maritime that cannot easily be electrified);<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>power (to balance the grid with storable and dispatchable energy);<\/li><li>buildings (in existing buildings with gas connections through hybrid heat pumps).<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>28 undersigned companies and associations seek to mobilize the biomethane supply chain<br>to highlight the benefits and opportunities related to biomethane and to partner with public stakeholders to ensure support for a large, Europe-wide scale-up and use of sustainable biomethane.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-12-08-o-14.44.10.png\" alt=\"28 \u043f\u0456\u0434\u043f\u0438\u0441\u0430\u043d\u0442\u0456\u0432 \u0411\u0456\u043e\u043c\u0435\u0442\u0430\u043d\u043e\u0432\u043e\u0457 \u0434\u0435\u043a\u043b\u0430\u0440\u0430\u0446\u0456\u0457\" class=\"wp-image-11901\" width=\"860\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-12-08-o-14.44.10.png 960w, https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Znimok-ekrana-2021-12-08-o-14.44.10-768x267.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u00abWe collectively have the ambition to scale up biomethane application in Europe.
