This facility, which is now commissioned, will capture, purify, and liquefy biogenic CO\u2082. The plant has the capacity to produce <strong>48,000 tonnes of liquefied CO\u2082 annually<\/strong> for European Energy\u2019s renewable energy projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The liquefaction unit has been engineered, constructed, and commissioned by Ammongas, a subsidiary of <strong>European Energy <\/strong>specialising in CO\u2082 liquefaction. Ammongas\u2019 technology pre-conditions and polishes raw CO\u2082 before compression, dehydration, and condensation, ensuring a purity level exceeding <strong>99%<\/strong>. By integrating carbon capture with Power-to-X, we are closing the carbon loop and paving the way for a more sustainable energy future&#8221;<\/em>, says <strong>Jaime Casasus-Bribian<\/strong>, CEO of Ammongas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By capturing and repurposing biogenic CO\u2082, the project supports emissions reduction and promotes circularity in renewable energy production. In addition, it serves as a prime example of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cUkraine has a huge potential for the application of such technologies, given the high level of competence and experience already in the existing biogas sector. In addition, a new and rapidly developing area of biomethane has emerged. About 40% of biogas is released as bioCO2, which can be an additional source of income for biomethane plant owners. Ammonia technology for biogas upgrading, which has been used by Ammongas for 20 years, has already proven to be highly efficient in the Scandinavian countries.
