{"id":18052,"date":"2025-06-25T18:28:31","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T15:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uabio.org\/?p=18052"},"modified":"2025-07-03T22:05:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T19:05:20","slug":"u-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uabio.org\/en\/news\/18052\/","title":{"rendered":"UABIO and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine strengthen cooperation \u2014 memorandum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On <strong>June 25, 2025<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/minagro.gov.ua\/en\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/minagro.gov.ua\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine<\/strong><\/a> hosted a productive working meeting of <strong>the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine members <\/strong>with the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine <strong>Vitaliy Koval<\/strong>. The participants of the meeting focused on current issues of <strong>biogas and biomethane sector <\/strong>development and existing barriers in the industry. They plan to work together to remove them and strengthen Ukrainian market players. The meeting also included the signing of a <strong>memorandum of cooperation<\/strong> between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and UABIO. He also added that<em> &#8220;the problems that arise are somewhere at the intersections of different ministries, and our cooperation should eliminate them. We will solve and help those that are in our area of activity. For those issues and solutions that will help farmers, I promise to assist and help organize meetings. Your success is the success of the country. We are looking for an ally with whom we can resolve all issues related to agricultural raw materials for biogas and biomethane production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vitaliy Koval<\/strong> added: <em>&#8220;How do we see bioenergy in the context of agriculture? As a minister, I believe that what helps our farmers add value is our responsibility. Please contact us, we will be happy to help in any way we can&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The course of the meeting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Georgii Geletukha,<\/strong> as Chairman of the Board, presented the current state and challenges faced by the sector. In addition, by 2050, Ukraine could potentially cover <strong>up to 20% of the EU&#8217;s biomethane demand <\/strong>(REPowerEU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main challenges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Undoubtedly, the biomethane production sector in Ukraine is showing positive development dynamics. At the same time, the full development of the sector is constrained by a number of systemic barriers listed below. We have sent a test batch of biomethane to Germany. The war has complicated the logistics routes, and we will definitely need a support program for Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, which are far from the western border and contain 20 thousand hectares of our land. We are interested in deep agro-processing. The idea of agricultural surplus is also relevant. Only when there is some kind of incentive does the sector make a leap forward. I am glad that public unions are cooperating with the ministries and asking, first of all, to remove existing barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Memorandum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This meeting is the beginning of even more systematic and consistent cooperation between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine.
