About the project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The technology is being developed as part of the BIOMETHAVERSE<\/strong><\/a> project, which forms part of the EU\u2019s flagship research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main aim<\/strong> is to expand the range of biomethane production technologies in Europe, make the process more cost-effective, and support the adoption of innovative methods for producing biomethane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP ECO ENERGY<\/strong><\/a>, with the support of UABIO<\/strong> and its German partners Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum<\/strong><\/a> (DBFZ) and Ellmann Engineering<\/strong><\/a>), has developed a pilot biological methanation plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This facility was handed over to Ukrainian Milk Company LLC<\/strong> for industrial testing in early 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The technology is based on combining the CO\u2082 contained in biogas with renewable hydrogen to increase the output of biomethane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industrial testing of the pilot plant by staff at the biogas complex of Ukrainian Milk Company LLC has demonstrated the high efficiency of the innovative technology and confirmed the results of laboratory studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The technology developed is at TRL 6-7, meaning it is ready for large-scale demonstration.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The winners were selected by the Board of Global 100 RE Ukraine<\/strong><\/a>, which consists of representatives of green energy associations, including the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine.
