First report is published"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-6414\" src=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tna-logo.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"width: 50%; height: auto; margin: 0px 20px 0px 0px; float: left;\" width=\"700\" height=\"272\">Six experts of Bioenergy association of Ukraine participated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/tech-action.unepdtu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TNA project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) is a set of country-driven activities leading to the identification, prioritisation and diffusion of environmentally sound technologies for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. The TNA project is implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme and the UNEP DTU Partnership on behalf of the Global Environment Facility.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><strong>Project implementation period in Ukraine:<\/strong> 2018-2020<br \/>\n<strong>Project Coordinator in Ukraine:<\/strong> Department of Climate Change and Ozone Conservation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.<br \/>\nCoverage of the whole project: 70 countries<br \/>\nDuration of the whole project: 2005-2020<br \/>\nBudget: USD 20 million<br \/>\n<\/span>The TNA project is implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme and the UNEP DTU Partnership on behalf of the Global Environment Facility.<\/p>\n<p>Acknowledging the importance of technological change in reducing emissions and stabilizing atmospheric concentrations of GHGs,&nbsp;Technology Needs Assessments&nbsp;were directly referenced in the Paris Agreement and helping developing countries conduct effective&nbsp;Technology Needs Assessments&nbsp;and implement Technology Action Plans has become instrumental to the UNFCCC process.<\/p>\n<p>Within the initial phase of the project, priority technologies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Ukraine in agriculture and waste management have been identified. According to the results of the evaluation, the most relevant technologies for use in Ukraine are:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; in the agricultural sector:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<address><a href=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tna-ukraine-biogas-from-animal-manure.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Production of biogas from animal manure<\/a>&nbsp;(available in Ukrainian)<\/address>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<address><a href=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tna-ukraine-solid-biofuels.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Production and use of solid biofuels from agricultural residues<\/a>&nbsp;(available in Ukrainian)<\/address>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; in the waste management sector:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<address><a href=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tna-ukraine-tfs-01w.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Methane collection at municipal solid waste landfills&nbsp;(MSW) with energy productionlandfills&nbsp;(MSW) with energy production<\/a>&nbsp;(available in Ukrainian)<\/address>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<address><a href=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tna-ukraine-tfs-06w.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mechanical-biological treatment of waste with the production of biogas (anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of MSW)&nbsp;with energy production<\/a>&nbsp;(available in Ukrainian)<\/address>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<address><a href=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tna-ukraine-tfs-07w.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mechanical-biological waste treatment with alternative fuel production (SRF) for the cement industry<\/a>&nbsp;(available in Ukrainian)<\/address>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<address><a href=\"https:\/\/uabio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tna-ukraine-tfs-12w.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aerobic treatment (digestion) of sewage sludge<\/a>&nbsp;(available in Ukrainian)<\/address>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For each technology, an information card was created with structured information on technology characteristics, technology impact on Ukraine&#8217;s development, financial needs and costs.
