BioPart Project webinar: talking about regional issues
The second webinar of the BioPart Project took place online via Zoom on February 25, 2025. Around 56 participants from academia, companies from biogas sector, manufacturing and agricultural sector as well as governmental organisations and various stakeholders gathered for the event. We share a summary of the event and a presentation by UABIO representative Yurii Matveev.


The webinar was focusing on exploring the challenges, drivers, and barriers facing biogas/biomethane sector development in Sweden, Poland, and Ukraine. The event brought together experts and stakeholders to delve into the diverse landscape of biogas production in these three countries.

The insights shared on the current state, alongside regulatory, financial, and technological hurdles, were truly enlightening. Participants were showing great interest and active engagement throughout the Q&A session.
The main presenters were:
- Konrad Smolarczyk (Biogas Solutions Research Center, Linköping University) presented insights into the Swedish biogas sector.
- Michal Tarka (Polish Biomethane Organisation) addressed the drivers and barriers impacting development in Poland.
- Yurii Matveev (Bioenergy Association of Ukraine) shared perspectives on the Ukrainian biogas landscape.

The workshop concluded with a lively discussion focused on the joint barriers and drivers faced by the Baltic region and how collaborative efforts can overcome them. Participants discussed differences on financial support and policy issues in the participant countries, as well as technical infrastructure that varies a lot.
The Project Team want to thank all the participants for the contribution into the topic. This workshop represented a crucial step towards fostering knowledge exchange and cross-border cooperation to advance biogas solutions in the Baltic Sea Region. The project team is currently analysing the valuable input gathered during the workshop, and a summary report will be made available on the project website soon.
