UABIO on the international stage: BIOMETHAVERSE project consortium meeting in Milan
Anna Pastukh, representative of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, took part in the seventh meeting of the BIOMETHAVERSE project consortium, which took place on 25–26 November 2025 at Politecnico di Milano (Italy).
The event brought together leading European experts, scientists and industrial partners working on the development of innovative ways to produce biomethane — a key element of green energy and decarbonisation in the EU.

Ukrainian participation in the international platform
During the meeting on 26 November, Ivan Traksler (MHP), representative of the Ukrainian demonstration site, gave a presentation. He outlined the progress made by the Ukrainian part of the project and the vision for Ukraine’s further integration into the European biomethane market.
Key topics of the meeting
- Project coordination and management;
- demonstration of innovative technologies for biomethane production;
- evaluation and optimisation of innovative production methods;
- issues of scaling, policy and market integration;
- communication, dissemination of results and maximisation of project impact.
Why is this important for Ukraine?
The participation of Ukrainian experts in international consortiums means:
- strengthening the country’s energy security;
- recognition of Ukraine’s potential in the field of biomethane at the EU level;
- synchronisation of standards and technologies with European requirements;
- the possibility of attracting investment in biomethane production in Ukraine.
The Bioenergy Association of Ukraine will continue to actively represent Ukraine’s interests in European forums, promoting the development of the biomethane sector and the harmonisation of Ukrainian legislation with the European ‘green course’.
BIOMETHAVERSE (Demonstrating and Connecting Production Innovations in the Biomethane Universe) sets out to diversify the technology basis for biomethane production in Europe, increase its cost-effectiveness and contribute to the uptake of biomethane technologies.
To this aim, 5 innovative biomethane production pathways will be demonstrated in five European countries: France, Greece, Italy, Sweden and Ukraine.
