Transport in the EU: renewable sources provide 11% of the sector’s energy
In 2024, the share of renewable energy sources in transport reached 11.2% at the EU level. When the time series began in 2004, this share stood at 1.4%.
The 2024 share was 17.8 pp lower than the 29% target for 2030 on the use of energy from renewable sources in transport.
Distribution by country
Sweden was the EU country with the highest share of renewables in transport (26.4%), followed by Finland (20.3%) and the Netherlands (19.7%).

By contrast, the lowest shares were registered in Croatia (0.9%), Greece (3.9%) and Czechia (5.7%).
