Bioenergy in the EU: important facts
RES in the EU is developing: with high probably plans to have 20% of RES in 2020 will be met. However, hardly everyone knows that the share of bioenergy in this success is about 64%.

The share of biomass energy production in the total energy production from RES in the EU countries ranges from 15% (Malta) to about 90% (Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia) and even 100% (Estonia).

The EU average is 64%. About 75% of the energy produced from biomass is consumed as thermal energy, 13% — as electricity, and 12% — as fuel for transport.
