On September 28, 2021, the Renewable energy agency (REA) together with the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, the public association Global 100RE Ukraine, and the MIM Business School held a round table “Green energy transition as a component of the fight against climate change”. Also with the speakers and representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the event was joined by 120 online participants. They were representing various categories of stakeholders: local governments, local state administrations, representatives of local communities, businesses, research institutions, and others.

The main goal of the round table was to promote networking, general discussion of opportunities, problems, and challenges of the green energy transition with the participation of all stakeholders: national and local authorities, local communities, businesses, and experts, which will create a basis for further implementation of RES projects. in Ukraine.

Oleksandr Dombrovskii, Head of Global 100RE Ukraine, presented the views of the Global 100RE Ukraine on the green energy transition of Ukraine and global challenges for humanity in the context of climate change.

Andrii Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board of Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), spoke about the current state of wind energy development in Ukraine and the proposals of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association to the National Action Plan for Renewable Energy of Ukraine until 2030.

Kyrylo Tomliak, Programme Manager, spoke about the preliminary results of the EBRD and GEF program “Ukraine: Sustainable Bioenergy Value Chain Innovations”.

The round table became the final event of the NGO “Renewable Energy Agency” in the framework of the project “Facilitating Ukraine’s transition to green energy”, supported by the European Union and the International Renaissance Foundation under the grant component of the EU4USociety project.

The main goal of the project is to create a public demand for Ukraine’s “green” energy transition by 2050 under the European Green Course by raising awareness of national and local authorities, relevant stakeholders, and the general public about the need and benefits of Ukraine’s transition to green energy.

REA as a member of UABIO will definitely continue to work in this direction.
