European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said the European Union is preparing a fourth package of sanctions against russia.

According to her, sanctions will be imposed in the nearest future, and they will include:

  • Deprivation of russia of trade preferences by 27 EU countries.
  • Continued pressure on russia’s elites close to putin.
  • Prohibition of cryptocurrency circulation in russia, aimed at preventing attempts to circumvent sanctions.
  • Ban on exports from the US and EU of luxury items to russia.
  • A ban on imports of steel and other ferrous metallurgy products from russia. This will affect the central sector of the russian system, deprive it of billions in exports and ensure that the United States and the EU do not subsidize putin’s aggressive policy against Ukraine.
  • Prohibit EU countries from investing in any project in russia’s energy sector.

In the future, the EU plans to terminate Russia’s rights to membership in leading multilateral financial institutions.
