August 22 is the day when humanity has once again exhausted the resources of the planet. Data from the global organization Global Footprint Network show that this day came later than last year. This indicator is formed on the basis of an analysis of data on greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, food and water shortages, as well as other global factors.

The coronavirus pandemic led to a temporary shutdown of large facilities, which situationally reduced emissions, but in no way solved the problem. Truly sustainable development can only be achieved through the introduction of sustainable environmental policies, real changes, not through the disaster.
