Electricity production from biomass is growing!
Data from the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine in June show an increase of 24% to 24.2 million kWh. Current analysis and graphs from UABIO expert Yevhen Oliinyk.
The increase in production is due to the commissioning and completion of commissioning works at TPP “Ajax-Dnipro” with a capacity of 16 MW. Read more about the largest biomass TPP in Ukraine at the link.
In recent months, there has been a significant increase in electricity production at the CHP PJSC “Kropyvnytskyi oil extraction plant” — from 1 to 4.4 million kWh. This indicates the commissioning of a new turbogenerator with a capacity of 6 MW. Currently, 7 companies (of the 16 that have received a “green” tariff from biomass) with a total capacity of more than 20 MW do not produce. It is expected that new facilities will be fully operational in the near future: Poliska TPP (5.9 MW) and AGL Energy (7 MW).
Electricity production from biogas in June decreased by 11% to 35.6 million kWh.
In total, during 2020, 342 million kWh of “green” electricity was produced from biomass and biogas, which is 6.7% of the total production of electricity from renewable sources in 2020.
