We are pleased to announce that we are opening registration for the training course “Training on Green House Gas mitigation”, which will run from September 18 to October 16, 2024.

The goal of the project is to help Ukraine on the path of low-carbon development.

The project “Training on Green House Gas mitigation” is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands under Dutch development foreign policy, financed by the Private sector development program of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and aims to support Ukraine on its way of low-carbon development.

Course structure

The training course consists of 20 expert lectures. 4 online lectures of 45 minutes each will take place every Wednesday from 14:00 to 18:00. At the end of each lecture, there is a question and answer session lasting up to 15 minutes.

  • Representatives of export-oriented businesses from the sectors covered by CBAM from 01.10.2023 such as cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen (the priority target group).
  • Business engaged in meeting Ukraine’s obligations on GHG emissions reduction and renewable energy sources development. 
  • Students and teachers from technical and ecology-oriented universities.
  • Representatives of environmentally oriented non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Trainers/Lecturers

Georgii Geletukha

Doctor of sciences, Head of Department, 1991 – present, Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine. Director of Renewable Energy Agency – 2003 – present. Author of more than 200 publications. 

Georgii Geletukhahas 30+ years of experience in the energy sector. He is one of the leading Ukrainian experts on renewable energy and energy efficiency with the most experience in energy production from biomass projects. Experienced in the development of sectoral/regional programs on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and district heating. He has a deep understanding and very wide experience in all bioenergy technologies deployment: combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion, production of liquid fuels (biodiesel, bioethanol), landfill gas collecting, and utilization. He is also an expert on biomass resources, potential, and standards, energy efficiency technologies, including building retrofitting. He has experience in over 200 different projects, mainly in Ukraine but also in Moldova, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. Member of Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee of UNFCCC (JISC) for 2008 – 2010, Bonn, Germany.

Education: Mechanical Engineer (turbine-building), 1980 – 1986, Moscow State Technical University, named after N.E.Bauman, USSR. Candidate of Sciences (engineering) – 1992, Moscow State Technical University. 

Tetiana Zheliezna

PhD, an expert of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, senior consultant of NGO “Renewable Energy Agency”, leading scientist at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of NAS of Ukraine. 

She has been working in the field of bioenergy, renewable energy sources, and energy efficiency for more than 20 years. She has considerable experience in participation in international projects, in particular those financed by the European Framework Programs as well as Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. 

Education:  Tetiana Zheliezna graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in thermal physics engineering; by now she is the author of more than 200 scientific and analytical works. Tetiana Zheliezna has a certificate of completion of ISCC EU and PLUS training: general requirements, basic principles, and recommendations in 2024.

Volodymyr Kramar

PhD, a senior researcher in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences, senior consultant of NGO “Renewable Energy Agency”, UABIO expert.

Expert has more than 30 years of work experience in scientific organizations, at manufacturing enterprises, in communal energy, in projects to improve the energy efficiency of enterprises and the energy use of biomass, including those financed by international financial organizations, as well as in projects of Joint Implementation and the Clean Development Mechanism within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol.

Consulting activities: development of feasibility studies for production and energy use of biomass, biomethane production, energy audits, development and implementation of energy-saving measures for industry, housing, agriculture and communal services; market research in energy, analysis of legislation, assessment of greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Preparation of educational materials, scientific articles, providing of lectures and seminars on renewable energy, production of biofuels and energy use of biomass, combating climate change, etc.

Education: Kyiv Technological Institute of Food Technologies – Industrial Heat and Power Engineering, Heat and Power Engineer. PhD (processes and devices of food, microbiological and pharmaceutical industries).

Semen Drahniev

PhD, a senior researcher in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a senior consultant of NGO “Renewable Energy Agency”, an expert of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine. 

Expert has more than 18 years of experience in educational, scientific and commercial organizations, research and consulting projects in the field of renewable energy sources, including those financed by international organizations. He is a certified expert in climate and renewable energy finance.

Education: He graduated as a mechanical engineer at the National University of life and environmental sciences of Ukraine with a degree in “Agricultural Mechanization”. 

Marcelina Elzbieta Golebiewska

Energy expert.

Since 2018 to 2022, she worked as a foreign expert at the DTEK energy holding (Kyiv, Ukraine), involved in projects related to the launch of a ‘new electricity market’ in Ukraine and the green transition.

In the years 2008-2017 she held the positions of specialist, head of the Analytical Unit and Chief Expert at Polish Oil and Gas Company, PGNiG SA (Warsaw, Poland).

At the same time, she lectured at the Warsaw School of Economics.

Currently, as an independent consultant, Marcelina Golebiewska has been participating in international projects on the functioning of energy markets and decarbonization.

Education: A graduate of the University of Warsaw and the Warsaw School of Economics. She received her education in the field of EU climate policy and energy transition at the Florence School of Regulation. 

Natalia Drahnieva

PhD., is a consultant of NGO “Renewable Energy Agency”, an Associate Professor of the Department of Management named after Prof. J. S. Zavadskyi NULES of Ukraine. 

She has been working in the field of management for more than 15 years. Her scientific interests are related to the problems of management theory and practice, in particular management of agro-industrial enterprises, quality management and human resources management. She participated in projects on strategic management and entrepreneurship development. She is an expert advisor and internal auditor of the integrated system of quality and safety of food products in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 19011:2018.

She is the author and co-author of more than 60 scientific and educational works, including monographs and textbooks.

Education: Natalia Drahnieva graduated from the National Agrarian University with a degree in “Management of Organisation”.

Petro Kucheruk

Expert has a 20 years of work experience in scientific and project organizations, in research and consulting projects financed by international financial organizations (EBRD, NEFCO, IFC and others), state and international institutions and private companies.

Consulting activities: development of feasibility studies of projects for the production and energy use of biogas and biomethane, development of methodologies for assessing the potential of biogas production and estimation of greenhouse gas emissions during wastewater treatment, market research in the field of biogas technologies, analytical support of legislative and regulatory initiatives, assessment of greenhouse gas emission reductions, scientific and technical examination of biogas projects and solutions, experimental research and inventive activity in the field of biotechnology, preparation of educational materials (manuals, methods, analytical notes, monographs), teaching lectures on production and energy use of biogas and biomethane, handling of digestate, prevention of emissions greenhouse gases, etc.

Education: National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (water supply, sewarage, rational use and protection of water resources). PhD (conversion of renewable energy sources).

Yevhen Oliinyk

A senior consultant of NGO “Renewable Energy Agency”, UABIO expert.

Expert has more than 20 years of experience working with projects in district heating systems, electricity generation, energy efficiency and long-term planning for the development and implementation of bioenergy projects.

Consulting activities: development of feasibility studies for biomass production and energy use projects, energy audits, development and implementation of energy saving measures and long-term development strategies; analytical and market research in the energy sector, preparation of manuals, scientific and popular articles; trainer and consultant on heat supply and bioenergy.

Education: National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, energy engineer.

In case of successful participation in the course (listening to more than 75% of lectures) and passing the final test (more than 2/3 correct answers), the participants will receive a certificate.
