UABIO proposals regarding the need to transition to own alternative fuels and support the cultivation of energy crops. Letter 544
A significant increase in prices for fossil fuel and energy resources imported to Ukraine necessitates the transition to its own alternative fuels.
Back in March, two important draft laws were registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine:
- on promoting the development of energy crops;
- regarding the rent for the lands on which energy crops are grown.
But so far they have not been considered.
That is why we addressed a letter to the people’s deputies with a request to consider these two important draft laws as soon as possible.
- Full text of UABIO’s letter № 544 on the need to transition to own alternative fuels and support the cultivation of energy crops (in Ukrainian).
This is the way to replace natural gas, reduce CO2 emissions and develop the economy.
It will be recalled that Ukraine has up to 4 million hectares of degraded and unproductive agricultural land. These lands are not suitable for agriculture but can be used for growing energy crops.
The Bioenergy Association of Ukraine addressed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Mykola Solskyi; Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsevv; Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak; Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov; Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Valerii Bezus.
The position of the UABIO is prepared, discussed, and agreed upon by the members of the UABIO, which produce more than 50% of all energy from biomass and biogas in Ukraine.
