LanzaJet Freedom Pines Fuels has opened the world’s first plant for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from ethanol! This is a big step into the future!

The production capacity is 10 million gallons (about 38 million liters) per year.

Important

  • The SAF fuel produced at the Freedom Pines Fuels facility will immediately be used as a replacement fuel for aircraft in the aviation industry.
  • LanaJet developed its ethanol-to-SAF technology in 2010 in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).
  • LanzaJet Freedom Pines Fuels already has agreements in place to supply all fuel produced over the next 10 years.
  • LanzaJet’s shareholders include such powerful companies as International Airlines Group (IAG), LanzaTech, Mitsui & Co, Shell and Suncor Energy, as well as investors such as Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund, Breakthrough Energy, British Airways and All Nippon. Airways (ANA).

The transition to SAF means not only new climate-smart product markets for American producers, but the development of local communities.

Currently, energy companies in the US are actively working to establish safe supply chains within the country, create new jobs at the local level, and produce environmentally friendly jet fuel around the world.
