Vitagro plans to build three biomethane plants in the west of Ukraine
Vitagro Energy, a member of UABIO, plans to build three biomethane production plants in the Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil and Rivne regions. The project has been included in the Ukraine Investment Framework investment catalog.

Once the facility is operational, it will be able to produce 3 million cubic meters of biomethane per year. The technology will be based on anaerobic digestion, followed by the upgrading of biogas to biomethane. The main feedstock will be organic matter from livestock farms and other sources. The biomethane produced will be sold to European countries.
The project also includes on-site electricity generation with a capacity of 0.4 MW to meet internal needs, as well as the production of approximately 66,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer annually as a byproduct.
Project funding and status
The total project budget is estimated at $35.9 million. Of this amount, the company is prepared to finance $17.7 million with its own funds and plans to raise the remainder. Funding is expected to come in the form of equity and project financing.
The project is currently in the feasibility study phase, and the land plots have already been leased. Over the past year, the company has conducted geological and geodetic surveys, and the project itself is in the active development phase. According to the presented schedule, construction will take place in 2027–2028, and production is scheduled to begin in 2028.
Vitagro notes that the team has extensive experience in implementing biogas and biomethane projects and plans to build a portfolio of 6-7 biomethane plants.
