On November 22, 2022, an online seminar “The use of alternative fuels in the aviation and waterborne transport” was held within the framework of the project “Technical and economic substantiation of the use of alternative fuels in aviation and waterborne transport”, with the support of UNDP within the framework of the EU4Сlimate project.

The event was organized by the public organization “Renewable Energy Agency” and the civic union “Bioenergy Association of Ukraine”.

The purpose of the webinar for representatives of relevant ministries, departments, and business associations is to increase their awareness of the possibilities of using alternative fuels in aviation and waterborne transport, as well as to present initial recommendations for improving Ukrainian legislation in these areas.

During the event, a presentation of the EU4Climate project took place, and experts made presentations, revealing the following questions:

  • Comparative analysis of alternative fuels in aviation;
  • Comparative analysis of alternative fuels in waterborne transport;
  • Draft recommendations on improving legislation for the development of the use of alternative fuels in aviation and waterborne transport in Ukraine;
  • Prospects for the production and use of alternative fuels in aviation and waterborne transport in Ukraine.

About the project

EU4Climate helps governments in the six EU Eastern Partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine) to take action against climate change and towards a low-emissions and climate-resilient economy. Funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by UNDP, EU4Climate supports countries in implementing the Paris Agreement and improving climate policies and legislation with an ambition of limiting climate change impact on citizens’ lives and making them more resilient to it.

The main goal of the project is to limit the impact of climate change on the lives of citizens and increase the population’s resilience to such changes. EU4Climate is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
